Group Project – Whuffie

So, my group read the book (The Whuffie Factor) and we all started to talk about it to understand it even more and to see if we all had understood it the same way. When we talked we took different examples and one of the example ended up being our project: The story about Blondinbella. So, here it is:

Week 3

Sadly I’ve been sick this week, and we also had a death within my family (not the closest family though, so don’t worry) so I’ve missed out a bit this week. I went to the second lecture this week and it was OK. Not more, not less. The funniest about this lecture was how the power point was (I’m sorry) horrible, haha! And what’s funny about that? Well, in the begining of this course we had a power point lecture and we got to learn do’s and don’ts. Well. The professor here only used the don’ts 😉

Anyway, this week I also read the Whuffie Factor and I really really liked it. It was easy to read, not a “heavy” book and the author expressed herself in a way that made it easy to understand. I even recommended the book to my old marketing professor in California, she’s gonna love it! So, after reading the book we started to work on our group project – but I’m not gonna tell you to much about that. But it’s gonna be awesome!

Week 2

Okay, a small summary of this week.

Monday

Chrille held a lecture about marketing in social media. I’m gonna be totally honest: I didn’t like it. The things he said could have been summarized in like 20 minutes because he never brought anything new to the table. I got under the impression that he wasn’t really that prepared and that he wasn’t really comfortable speaking english. I remember one good thing he said though “Facebook is teaching us to be positive on the web“. And that’s true. You cannot dislike anything on Facebook as you can on for example Youtube. But I don’t really know if that’s a good thing though.. Just look at Rebecka Black – if it wasn’t for the dislike button she would never be famous. And saying if you dislike something is GOOD for the company you dislike: It makes them develop and come close to their customers. Social media brings us closer and it would be weird if it only was good feedback – then it wouldn’t matter if u’re close to ur customers or not.

Tuesday

Great lecutre in Swedish. Like someone else wrote, when it’s in Swedish it’s easy to just listen with one ear but Mattias kept me interested during the whole class! He really knew what he was talking about and it felt like he was talking WITH us, not TO us. Great great great.

Wednesday

Absolutley the best day of the week. Samuel Kammensjö was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. So inspiring! He said that being on the web and in social media is not about marketing for SEB’s part but in some way I think it is. Cause he was talking about transparency in the company, their customers and clients should know everything that was going on and THAT is good marketing. “We need to be where our customers already are”. God, it was just soooo good!

The TAB

I didn’t really mind doing the TAB. It really got me thinking about my technological background and why i’m so interested in it today. So it was a good exercise. Well, it felt kinda weird talking english for urself but, eh, it was only two minutes. And it so gonna go of the web asa this class is over, haha!

Overall…a really good week!

Triumph of the Nerds

So, I’ve been watching the documentry Triumph of the Nerds. I’m going to say like everyone else: It’s a totally OK film to watch, but not more.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been taking computer science, and a comtech class before, but the information the film gave wasn’t new to me. What was fun was to get to know the people behind the big names, like Gates and Jobs. It’s kind of incredible how much they have affected our lives. Without them (and of course all the people behind them) our society would have looked totally different. Just think of all the other innovations which are dependent on computer systems and that kind of technology. Like the telephone, it would still be something you just call someone with if it wasn’t for the nerds. We wouldn’t have apps or be able to facebook or use the gps in the phone.

In the film they are talking about a thrive to develop even better computers, systems etc. I believe that is because the so called nerds, always wanted to do better than each other. This is something you see clearly in the interviews with both Gates and Jobs. They are envying each other, talking bad, competing and this is what in the end made the technology we have today, the technology which is still developing.

If would be fun to have a follow up on the film. What happend later? The film ends at 96 and so much more have happend after that. I would say that Apple is the big winner nowadays with the iPod, the Macbooks, iPods, iPhones etc.

Main point: As long as there are nerds we will have a society always thriving for more and better technology.

Photo editing

Is having a photo editing class. I really like editing, took “Digital imaging” as a class in college when I lived in California. Mostly worked with Photoshop which seems to be kind of the Godfather of all editing programs. Right now the prof. is teaching about aviary.com. It’s an OK site. Reminds me a lot about PS. So if you know PS but doesn’t have it – use aviary.com. Sure, it’s a lot more simplified but that’s a good thing, huh?

Anyways, I edited this picture. So what have I done? I changed the sky pretty much. On the original picture the sky was bright. So I took an other picture and blended them together. also used the gradient tool to make the sky differ in colors. Absolutely not my best work but as I said, it’s very simplified compared to PS and I cannot find many of the tools I’m used to have. But if you want more tools, use pixlr.com

Over all, today’s class is a good one. I think this is pretty basic knowledge we all should have here at the MKV- program.

Power Point

Okay, guess I have to get started. Totally missed that we had class yesterday so don’t really know what to write about. Gotta catch up on that…

Anyways, having class atm. Going through Power Point. Everything the prof. is saying is so true. There are way to many boring power point presentations. I’ve always loved doing ppt’s, like since I was 10 or so when we first got to know it in school. I remember my first presentation: I talked about Norway, had lots of pictures and the background was pink. Well, looking back I realize my first presentation wasn’t that good – but it was good enough. My teacher asked me to come to the teacher-parents meeting and show it. Haha, I was so proud!

I do hope my presentations are better today  (I never use pink backgrounds anymore anyways, ha!). I can seriously sit for hours working on a presentation. But my main point with this post is that it’s always more to learn when it comes to ppt. Like today, working on the school computer, I’ve learned working in 2010’s version of the program –  something I actually never done before. I like it though, it’s easy to navigate.
